How To Transfer Ownership Of A Discord Server?
It’s hard to build a community. Those who made a community know it. But sometimes you need to leave a community you built for many reasons. You will also need to transfer the ownership of your servers if you want to delete your discord account.
Transferring ownership of a server is a one-way process. Once the transfer is done, the new owner can remove you anytime he/she wants.
You can change ownership using the desktop app or the mobile app on your smartphone.
Transfer Ownership Of A Discord Server
As the discord desktop app and the web version have the same layout, you can use either to follow this process.
So, open the Discord app on your computer and make sure to log in to your account. Or, visit the Discord website and log in to your account.

On the left sidebar, there is a list of your joined and owned servers. Right-click on the server icon that you own but want to change the owner.

Navigate to Server Settings > Members.
You will find all of your server members. It’s only possible to transfer the ownership to an existing member. So make sure the next owner is a member of your server.
Right-click on the username of the next owner.

Click on Transfer Ownership.

Toggle the button to confirm that you agree to change ownership and click on the Transfer Ownership button.
Note: Be careful while performing this action, because it won’t ask you to confirm your password. As soon as you hit the button, the ownership will be transferred.
Transfer Ownership of A Server on Discord Mobile
Though I mainly use the Discord desktop app, when I am away from the computer, I stay connected using the mobile app. I know many people manage a server from the mobile app.
Here’s how to change the ownership from the mobile app:
Open the Discord app on your Android/iPhone. Make sure you are logged in to your owner account.
If you are inside a chat or channel, press the backspace button to go to the homepage. You can see all servers on the left sidebar.
Like the desktop app, you can’t right-click on a server. So, just tap and hold the server you own.

Click More Options from the menu.

A pop-up will appear on your screen. Tap on Settings from the options. It will open the Server Settings page.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Members.

Click on the username of the next owner of your server. Tap on Transfer Ownership.

Select that you acknowledge the transfer and tap on the Transfer button.
Things You Need To Know About Ownership Transfer
An owner can create administrative user roles to allow users to have specific access to the server. But no one has more than the server owner.
When you transfer the ownership to another user, you give full control to the user. If you mistakenly change the ownership to the wrong user, there’s nothing you can do.
The new owner can also change ownership anytime he/she wants. As soon as you transfer the ownership, you become a normal member who could be removed by the owner at any time.
