How to ban and unban someone on Discord?
Most users have fun on Discord, but it takes more work for the mods/owner to manage a server. Some users often break the rules or misbehave, and it becomes impossible to stop them without banning them.
As a moderator/owner of a server, you must know how to ban and unban people on Discord. Discord ban has some features and limitations.
For example, you can ban a user and remove his previous messages(up to 7 days).
It’s an excellent feature to remove his toxic messages from your server, but you can’t remove all of his messages.
You can also explain why you banned a user, so you know if you want to unblock that user again.
Here’s how to do it.
Ban Someone on Discord
Desktop
- Open the Discord app on your computer.
- Go to the text channel where the person is messaging.
- Right-click on his avatar.
- Click on Ban Username.
- Select the reason for banning.
- Select the time frame if you want to delete the message history of that user.
- Press the Ban button.
Mobile
- Open the Discord app on your mobile.
- Go to the channel where the person is active.
- Tap on his avatar/profile icon.
- Scroll down and click on Ban.
- By default, it won’t delete any messages from this user. Select the time frame if you want to delete his messages.
- Explain why you want to ban this user.
- Tap on the Ban button.
Unban Someone on Discord
Desktop
- Open the Discord app on your computer.
- Right-click on your server icon.
- Navigate to Server settings > Bans.
- Click on the username that you want to unban.
- Press the Revoke ban button.
Mobile
- Open the Discord app on your device.
- Press and hold your server icon.
- Click on More options.
- Click on Settings.
- Scroll down and click on Bans.
- Click on the … icon beside the user you want to unban.
- Tap on Unban.
There’s no limit on how many times you can ban/unban a user. If you think the unbanned user needs to be banned again, you can do it instantly.
Unfortunately, while banning a user, you can’t select the time frame of the ban. For example, you can’t choose to ban a user for seven days. After that, the user will be unbanned automatically. The only solution to this is to revoke the ban manually.
